Overview

Whether assembling museum-quality display cases, signage substrates, or transparent architectural components, SG42 offers reliable bond strength, optical clarity and fabrication flexibility.

SCIGRIP SG42 is engineered to bond acrylic—including extruded, cell-cast and continuous cast sheets, as well as moulded acrylic parts and to bond acrylic to polyester, cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB), polycarbonate and other plastics.

Its two-component, medium body formulation delivers a water-clear cured joint, making it ideal for applications where the bond line must be invisible and aesthetics matter. With a 10:1 mix ratio and a working time of approximately 15–20 minutes, SG42 allows manufacturers and fabricators to apply the adhesive and complete handling or machining in a production-friendly timeframe.

Features and benefits

High strength

Bonds

Enables high-clarity bonding of acrylics, moulded acrylic parts and acrylic-to-other-plastic assemblies.

No primer required

Surface preparation

Designed for plastics bonding with minimal substrate pretreatment (subject to fabrication best practices).

Clarity

Clarity

Water-clear cured joint for applications where visibility of the glue line must be minimised.

Working time

Working time

Approximately 15 minutes working time, allowing for positioning and assembly before fixture begins.

UL approved

Durability

Provides high bond strength after full cure—e.g., around 4,000 lbs/in (281 kg/cm) after 1 week at room temperature (test conditions) on acrylic substrates.

Certified quality

Quality fabrication

Suitable for sign-industry, display-case and acrylic component manufacturers where aesthetic finish, strength and reliability are required.

Recommended use

Acrylic fabrication and display systems – SG42 is ideally suited to bonding acrylic sheet, casting and moulded parts in applications such as signage, point-of-purchase displays, museum cases, lighting enclosures and other transparent or semi-transparent assemblies. Acrylic to other substrates – Use SG42 when bonding acrylic to plastics such as polyester, CAB or polycarbonate where both strength and visual clarity are required. The adhesive’s clear cured appearance means it works well in visible joints where aesthetic integrity is important. Precision applications – Where the bond line needs to remain invisible or colorless, SG42 provides a premium solution for fabrication and assembly processes that demand both performance and visual quality.
